NO MORE COMPLAINING ABOUT THE WEATHER

Advertisements

I am British.

We, as a nation, do a lot of complaining about the weather. A LOT.

It is almost as bough it is our default setting, our subconscious ‘muzak’ if you like. We stand in a queue – we make eye contact with the person next to us and what do we say?
“Dreadful day isn’t it, raining cats and dogs. Again!”

Why am I telling you this?

Because recently, Mother Nature has shown the world just how dreadful and how dangerous weather can be. It has been weeks and weeks of devastation, suffering, lives ruined.

So I, for one, have realised that no – we don’t have dreadful weather in the UK.

Yes, we have a lot of rain and very little sunshine, but we rarely go to bed wondering if the weather will spare us or will change our lives forever.

So, British people, and any other nation who recognises themselves in this, let’s make a bit of a pact to be grateful for our rubbish weather. Our rainy, dreary, dismal weather that may bot excite us very often but certainly doesn’t rage against us.

And let’s take a moment to imagine what it would be like to live in Mexico right now, or any of the other myriad places who have been recently turned upside down…lives lost, lives ruined, landscapes changed.
