You will look back on this my friend,
And you won’t remember the boredom,
Or the loneliness.
You will remember the sunshine,
And the way the stars looked brighter with every passing night.
You will look back on this my friend,
And you won’t recall the money worries,
Or the isolation.
You will remember the laughter shared with friends on a screen.
The way their support reached you through the airwaves.
You will look back on this my friend,
And you won’t go over the cancelled plans,
Or the things you missed.
You will go forward, enjoying every minute like the gift that it is.
The present to be unwrapped.
You will look back on this my friend,
And you won’t take for granted,
the joy of a hug ever again.
The small things which had become so huge which take their place again,
Amongst the shallow.
You will look back on this my friend
And you will realise,
That somewhere in the lock-down,
Your soul emerged from its prison and blossomed,
Like a flower in spring.
