Life After Lockdown

Advertisements

I think it’s time to tell the story of the journey we’ve been on,
Now that life is slowly starting up again.
Perhaps it’s time to take a look at how we’ve fared along the way,
How we’ve learned to cope when nothing is the same.

We are hesitant to rush out and embrace the life we knew,
We are scared to hand our loved ones’ lives to fate.
We are afraid to face the world after the trials we’ve all been through,
We are too aware of what we have at stake.

But we try with every day to find a way to get back in,
We try to bravely knock down all the walls we built.
We laugh and talk and work but this time, with a question in our eyes,
As though each thing we do is wrapped up tight in guilt.

As we start to face new normals and we sweep away the past.
We must remember how much pain our heart has taken.
There’s been a shadow on the world and every day was doused with fear,
It’s safe to say our very core of life was shaken.

So if you find your soul exhausted and you just can’t face the task,
Try to dig down deep and show yourself some care.
When the life you took for granted is now everything you want,
Take your time, be kind, protect yourself out there.
