MAN-UP
The world can be tough,
for a boy who’s not rough,
there’s much pressure
to man-up and fight
and the boys who shout loud,
seem so very proud,
to preach that this macho
is right
and since boys may not talk,
in the way that they ought,
it’s a lonely old life
for the gentle
they hide their sweet thoughts,
their tears can’t be caught,
lest they’re branded
as too sentimental
but I wish those boys knew,
that their heart will push through,
there’s no way to extinguish
that beauty
being tough’s not a goal,
letting love in your soul,
should be more than
considered a duty
I will raise gentle boys,
who can use their heart voice,
I will praise every tear
and emotion
let the gentle boys rise,
let the world have fresh eyes,
let man-up, be no longer
a notion.
